FAQ FibroCane

Be in the know.

Should I have blood work done to diagnose Fibromyalgia?

A doctor might order several blood tests to rule out other diseases first, such as:        Complete Blood Count (CBC), Thyroid Test (T3, T4 & TSH),  Rheumatoid Factor          (RF), Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA) and an Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate           (ESR).

Is there a test for Fibromyalgia?

Yes, there is a blood test called a FM test that measures the amount of two           protein markers in white blood cells. There is some controversy around this test as    it may confirm a diagnosis or possibly confuse a diagnosis if blood testing for    other conditions has not been done first.

What if I haven't been diagnosed but have many of the symptoms?

This is a very common situation for any number of patients. Because of the     variety of symptoms and how they present in each person, there may be a delay in        getting an official diagnosis. If you are experiencing the debilitating fatigue and    pain then it is possible you have Fibromyalgia and can move forward with both lifestyle changes and supplementation to treat yourself.
